Relationship between the footprint indices and standing jump ability in male healthy volleyball players
Myong I. Hyon, Kwang I. Choe, Kwang H. Kim, Un C. Kim, Il . Kim
Abstract: We proposed the relationship of footprint indices with the standing jump abilities in male volleyball players because the footprint indices show the foot arch indirectly and the human's foot arch structure contributes to biped walking. Clarke index (CI), Footprint index (FI), Chippaux-Smirak index (CSI), Arch length index (ALI), Truncated arch index (TAI), Staheli index (SI))and jump abilities (height of high jump and distance of long jump) in 72 male volleyball players and 56 male college students were analysed. In footprint indices, there was no significant difference between college students and volleyball players. There was no relationship between footprints indices and standing long jump but standing high jump was significantly related to the CI (0.930), FI (0.671), ALI (-0.897) and TAI (0.679) in male volleyball players. These results suggested that some footprints indices such as CI, FI, ALI and TAI of male volleyball players were related to the standing high jump height.
