Computational simulation and validation of textiles for the high level sport performance: a new numerical methodological approach
N. Gardan, S. Lignon, A. Schneider, D. Sifaki-Pistolla, M. Eldessouki, R. Taiar
Abstract: Several fabric prototypes for high level sport performance, such as swimming, triathlon and skiing, were developed in the present study. Eight innovative fabric prototypes were developed with the aim to assess the exigencies for the high level sport performance. The high-tech polyamide fibers were used for the production of the textile samples that showed a performance that can be adapted for medical use as well. A digitalization of the fabrics allowed the determination of samples behaviour which was used for numerical simulation and the results highlighted the influence of each sample composition. The goal of this work is to present our preliminary results on the developed functional sport fabrics, and to give an overview for the upcoming work that will implement the computational methods to create a data-processing platform for virtual prototyping with a simulation to the relevant stages of cloth production, which is expected to lead to a powerful model for predicting the textile performance.
