Abstract:

Dear reader,

The journal "Series on Biomechanics" is a continuation of the "Biomechanics" series, which was published by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences from 1974 to 1995. In 2007, the journal was resumed under the name "Biomechanics Series" and a single issue of the 23rd volume was published, with the Editor-in-Chief Professor Yuli Toshev. In 2009, academician Yatchko Ivanov was elected as Editor-in-Chief. Since 2010, the journal has been published regularly, four times a year, with 17 volumes and 72 issues, including 538 scientific articles, published. In 2016, the journal was indexed in the Scopus database Q4 (SJR = 0.113); for 2025, its rating was increased to Q3 (SJR=0.25).
An online submission and editorial system for the journal was also developed and applied. Articles are reviewed by an international Еditorial Board.
The journal received financial support from the Institute of Mechanics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Bulgarian Society of Biorheology, the Bulgarian Society of Biomechanics, as well as from the Bulgarian National Scientific Research Fund within the framework of the competitions for Bulgarian Scientific Periodicals.
The Editorial Board of the journal, as well as the Scientific Council of the Institute of Mechanics, unanimously supported the proposal made by Academician Yatchko Ivanov to elect Professor Nadia Antonova, Vice Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Series on Biomechanics", as its Editor-in-Chief from the beginning of 2026.
The Editorial Board set itself the task of turning the journal into a mirror of the achievements of theoretical and practical biomechanics, into a platform for discussions and sharing of opinions. It is making efforts to establish close ties and interactions with other journals and societies in the field of biomechanics and related fields. Our website http://jsb.imbm.bas.bg provides the necessary information.
We hope that our journal will continue to contribute to the sustainable and effective development of the biomechanics and related topics, and that our colleagues from the international society of biomechanics and other related societies will show appreciation for the fulfilment of this mission by submitting their original scientific results for publication.

Professor Nadia Antonova, PhD,
Editor-in-Chief
