M. Datcheva
Abstract: The award "Best Young Scientist in the Field of Mechanics - 2025" was presented to Msc. Eng. Pavel Hristov Venev
On December 5, 2025, within the framework of the Annual Scientific Session of the Institute of Mechanics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the ceremonial awarding for "Best Young Scientist in the Field of Mechanics - 2025" was held at the Institute of Mechanics to the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
The prize, which is being awarded this year for the seventh time, was established ten years ago by the National Committee for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (NCTAM) at the proposition of Academician Yatchko Ivanov and is completely funded by him. It is awarded through a competition organized by the Institute of Mechanics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and aims to stimulate and promote the achievements of young researchers up to the age of 35, working in various fields of mechanics in scientific organizations and universities in Bulgaria.
The award for 2025 was presented to Msc. Eng. Pavel Venev personally by the patron of the award, Acad. Yatchko Ivanov, during an official ceremony. Pavel Venev is an assistant professor at the Institute of Mechanics, was a full-time PhD student in the doctoral program "Robots and Manipulators" at the Institute of Mechanics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. During 2024 the whole program was completed with thesis defense to follow. He receives the award for his significant contributions to the field of biomechanics and robotic human assistance systems. Over the past three years, his work has focused on the development, control, and experimental validation of pneumatically driven exoskeletons. He is also a co-author of a patent for a system for non-invasive electrical stimulation of acupuncture points.

His achievements demonstrate not only a deep knowledge of mechanics and automation, but also a strong orientation towards applied research with the potential to improve the quality of life of people with physical disabilities.
In his address to the laureate, Academician Yatchko Ivanov emphasized the importance of scientific research in all areas of mechanics and the role of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Mechanics as a leading center for fundamental and directed-fundamental research, as well as for solving complex problems, arising from industry and society. He wished the young researcher to continue his path with passion and an innovative spirit.
