Abstract: Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the knowledge, perceptions, and attitudes of medical personnel in Georgia regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medicine. Materials and Methods: An online questionnaire was designed and distributed among healthcare professionals, collecting data on demographics, AI awareness, ethical and legal knowledge, and perceptions of AI’s potential impact in healthcare. Participants were informed about the purpose of the study. The process was anonymized and carried out online. Results: Of the fifty-six respondents, 55.4% reported having some knowledge of AI, while 44.6% lacked information on AI’s legal aspects, and 39.3% were unaware of ethical considerations. Most participants (65%) acknowledged AI’s importance in advancing medicine, yet there was resistance to the idea of AI replacing medical specialists. Respondents identified Radiology (64.8%), Surgery (48.1%), and Histopathology (38.9%) as key fields for AI applications. Additionally, 81.1% had not received formal AI training, though 89.1% expressed interest in a certification course, and 92.7% were interested in attending lectures on AI. Discussion: This study shows that while Georgian healthcare professionals see potential in AI for advancing medical fields, there are notable knowledge gaps, particularly around ethical and legal issues. Conclusion: The study highlights the strong interest and need for targeted education to support AI integration in clinical practice.
