Mechanokinetics and thermodynamics of highly elastic deformation of gastric smooth muscles under chronic intake of TiO2 nanocolloid

Abstract: Under chronic intake, nanosize TiO2 penetrates the smooth muscle layer of stomach and intestines, gets accumulated therein, and changes their contractive activity. In this study, we investigated the impact of the mentioned nanocompound on mechanokinetic and thermodynamic parameters of highly elastic deformation of circular gastric smooth muscles of rats under in vivo peroral intake into the organism for 30 and 100 days. The analysis of highly elastic deformation of the muscles was done with the consideration of the following parameters: force constants k1 and k2 (for loading and unloading, respectively); indices of Р1/2 (the values of loading, when semi-maximal deformation was observed, and residual loading, when semi-restoration of the length of preparations is observed); the area of the hysteresis loop (Δθ) of the loading-unloading cycle; the effect of semi-maximal deformation (ΔА1/2); the changes in internal energy (ΔU) and in entropy (ΔS) under moderate (20 %) and large (50 %) deformations of muscles.
The results, obtained in this study, demonstrated nanomaterial TiO2-induced changes in the elastic properties of the gastric muscle tissue, which led to the complications for the processes of restoring this tissue after deformation. The change in kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of highly elastic deformation of smooth muscles under long-term in vivo effect of nano-TiO2 may be related to the ability of these nanoparticles to penetrate tissues, inducing their structural changes.
