Research of morpho-anthropometric signs at 13-18 years of taekwondo competitors

Abstract: Anthropometry was developed as a method employed by anthropologists for the study of variations in humans and evolution of populations in both living and extinct. Independent from sport type, having physical abilities such as anthropometric and physiological characteristics is a prerequisite to success against any competition or tournament.
Our study included 68 taekwondo athletes at the age 13-18 years. The years of training 1 to 10 from 8 local taekwondo clubs in Bulgaria. Parameters were assessed as: absolute amount and percentage of body fat, active body mass, absolute amount of body weight, hip and cheekbone corrected circumference and arm and hip muscular circumference.
The purpose of the present study was to define the morpho-anthropometric signs of 13-18 years old taekwondo, International Taekwondo Federation (ITF) athletes.
At the age 13-18 taekwondo athletes (males and females) had demonstrated almost equal level of development of morpho-anthropometric indicators.
