Effectiveness of explosive power training on some kinetic parameters affecting instep kick for soccer players
R. Taiar, M. Ghieda, E. Elbrawe, B. Sharaif, E. Abdi
Abstract: Objectives: To examine the explosive power of training program’s effects on kinetic parameters affecting instep kick for the soccer players.
Method: The explosive power-training program was applied for 12 weeks, with 3 trainings per week lasting from 60 - 90 minutes each. Twenty soccer players were equally and randomly divided into two groups: experimental (n=10) and control (n=10) groups. Anthropometric (height and weight) and physical tests (isometric leg strength, quadrant jump test, vertical jump), skill test (accuracy kick on goal), and photography with movement analysis, using high-speed video camera (250 frame/s via Simi motion analysis system) were performed.
Results: Statistical differences were found at physical tests (isometric leg strength, quadrant jump and vertical jump p<0.05), skill test (accuracy kick on goal, p<0.05), and kinetic parameters between control and experimental groups (p<0.05).
Conclusions: Although there was statistically significant result for the experimental group, the explosive power training is a good way to train as the experimental evidence for this workout demonstrated. It involves mainly weight bearing activities including some core muscle group exercises that are believed to be very important for soccer players.
