Deformation of fixation means used in bone fractures of the extermities
M. Shidlovskiy, M. Dyman, O. Zakhovayko, T. Omelchenko, A. Turchin
Abstract: This study examines the functional reliability of bone fixative means for different types of bone fractures depending on the type of fixation and its location. Studies were performed using static and cyclic loads. The technique of direct measurement of the movements along the marks established at the studied points in the fracture zone is described. When transmitting a compressive force to a piece, the type of fixation means significantly affects the deformations of the osteosynthesis system at all levels of loading; for most of the measured characteristics, the external fixation rod devices and titanium mini-plates of various designs proved to be advantageous.
