Digital thermal analysis as a performance-level indicator to evaluate two volleyball skills for female students during and after menstrual cycle
R. Taiar, M.Y. Ghieda, E.H. Elbrawy, W.A. Ahmed, M.M. Eid, E. Abdi
Abstract: During the final practical assessment of the volleyball’s basic principles, it was found that there is an obvious decrease in performance of some students. These students were characterized by high level of skill performance during the practical tutor-led tutorials throughout the course of the semester. Students' reluctance to practice perhaps was due to the recurring cycle of physiological changes (menstrual periods). It is difficult for students to speak about this issue as a result of Eastern society's culture and its customs and traditions. The examined group consisted of 203 healthy female volleyball players from ages of 18 and 20 years old. Initially, the personal data such as names, ages, telephone numbers, plus the information regarding the menstrual cycles and their regular practice were recorded. A statistically significant effect of the digital thermal level of the hand, palm and dorsum at the skill level of the underhand passing skill was observed (p<0.05). This observation was in the research sample at the normal state (non-menstruation stage). A statistically significant effect of the digital thermal level of the hand and palm at the skill level for underhand passing skill was observed. This observation was in the research sample while the athletes were at the abnormal state (menstruation stage). The following predicted equation is conceivable to be used for the level of skills performance in terms of hand’s and palms digital thermal level.
