Acad. Yatchko Ivanov
Abstract: Professor Dr. Nadia Antonova - Head of Department "Biomechanics" at the Institute of Mechanics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, was awarded the prestigious FAHRAEUS MEDAL at the 18th conference of the European Society of Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation (ESCHM). The meeting was held at the University Edificio Egas Moniz in Lisbon, Portugal, June 5–8, 2016.
The medal, established in 1981 in London, was awarded for the 17th time, distinguishing researchers in hemorheology and microcirculation. However, the nomination and election of a FAHRAEUS MEDAL recipient are carried out in two consecutive rounds by a secret ballot of previous winners and members of the ESCHM board. For the first time since its establishment, a woman researcher was awarded the medal, presented by Prof. Tommaso Gori, President of the European Society of Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation (ESCHM)..
