Резюме: Objective: To examine the gait changes when pulling a two-wheeled shopping trolley with various loads, as a common daily activity for human beings. Materials and methods: Using a gait analysis protocol, data from five healthy young individuals were collected, tracking full body markers and ground reaction forces (GRF) when pulling a trolley with loads from 0 kg to 15 kg. Results: Kinematic parameters showed significant changes in loaded sides and were highly dependent on the carrying load. The hip flexion and rotation were more pronounced for loaded side with highest load. Lumbar spine observed an increased flexion-extension range of motion (ROM). GRF were more noticeable at 80% of gait cycle (GC) for the loaded side as load increases. Discussion: These kinematic alterations in different loads can be considered as a compensatory mechanism for maintaining balance and postural stability to counterbalance unilateral loading. The increase in GRF may lead to increased loading on the knee and hip joints on the loaded side. Conclusion: The asymmetry in the load distribution between sides provokes greater rotation of the trunk and adaptations of the lower limbs, and it’s suggested that if the trolley is overloaded can lead to fatigue and may cause injury.
