Analysys on the cells growth at adaptation of ironoxidizing bacterial strain Acidithioacillus ferrooxidans JCM3863 to 21g/L ferrous ions
E. Petrova, P. Zlateva
Резюме: The strain Acidithioacillus ferrooxidans is an autotrophic, acidophilic, mesophile occurring in single or occasionally in pairs or chains, depending on growth conditions. This strain oxidizes ferrous ions and it is used for waste water and tail gas treatment. The application of bacteria in environmentally friendly technologies may fall in surroundings with high concentrations of iron and lead, because these conditions are toxic for the strain. In order to avoid inhibition of the bacterial action, it is necessary to adapt Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans to high initial concentrations of iron ions. The aim of present work is to estimate the statistical significance of the difference or similarity between the experimental curves of the biomass growth obtained in the process of adaptation of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans JCM 3863 to high initial concentrations of the substrate - 21g/L. There is influence of the high substrate concentrations on somestatistically significant differences in studied parameters, measured in different modifications of cultural media in the last phases of bacterial growth.
